DHA & Folic Acid in the Brain

In a randomized controlled trial, researchers from China tested the effects of the use of Folic Acid, DHA, which is one of the components of fish oil, or a combination of both in cognitive function in adults with mild cognitive impairment.

The results showed that both supplements generated improvements in cognitive function, but it was the combination that not only showed the best results but also showed an improvement in one-carbon metabolism and a decrease in beta-amyloid.

12 months after the interventions, the subjects were tested again, and they returned to baseline, which suggests that continuous use and supplementation with Folic Acid and DHA is necessary to obtain and maintain the benefits shown in the study.
