Benefits of Glutamine on Athletes
Glutamine is a very powerful amino acid that has a wide arrange of benefits for sports performance and human health and researchers from Spain tested the effect of 6 grams of glutamine per day, during 20 days on muscle damage markers on basketball players.
They found that the glutamine supplementation significantly decreased:
- aspartate transaminase
- creatine kinase
- myoglobin
Which suggests less muscle damage compared to the placebo group.
They also found that cortisol levels did not increase in the supplemented group during the time of the study.
