Avocados and the Gut Bacteria

Avocados are not only delicious, but also very healthy because of their concentrations of antioxidants, fiber, and omega-9 fatty acids, and now research is showing even more benefits.

In a randomized controlled trial, researchers found that consuming one avocado per day:

  • Increases the microbiome abundance and diversity
  • Increases the production of healthy short-chain fatty acids from the gut bacteria
  • Reduced fecal bile acids concentration

As I said, delicious, fulfilling, and very healthy.
