How Omega 3 Fatty Acids Reduce Stress and Safeguard Telomeres: Ohio State Research

We all know how important Omega 3 fatty acids are for our health and performance, and researchers from Ohio State University are giving us two more reasons to keep taking our fish oil supplements on a daily basis.

They did a randomized clinical trial, and they found that the group that consumed a supplement containing 2.5 grams of fish oil daily showed lower cortisol levels and lower inflammatory markers after an acute stressful event.

Interestingly enough, they also found that the group that consumed the 2.5 grams of the fish oil supplement on a daily basis also showed a higher telomerase activity suggesting a protection of the telomeres.

This reinforces the importance of taking fish oil supplements on a daily basis.
